1. How far in advance should I book a newborn session?
- Newborn sessions can be booked as early as your positive pregnancy test. The majority of people book right when they begin sharing the news with friends and family. That means somewhere in the first trimester/beginning of the second trimester. But really, whenever you’re ready!
2. I have a due date, but it's impossible to predict when my baby will be born. How exactly do we book a session?
- My schedule is entirely flexible when it comes to booking a newborn shoot because it is totally impossible to know ahead of time when your little one will make their appearance. When you book your newborn session, a 'soft hold' will be put on both our calendars, based on your due date. This date is flexible. The actual date of your photoshoot will be finalized once the baby arrives and you have a better sense of how your recovery is going.
3. If I just had my baby and didn't book a photoshoot in advance, is it too late?
- Definitely not! Newborn sessions are generally scheduled within the first 2-3ish weeks after delivery, so just reach out to hopefully scoop up a last minute spot on my calendar.
4. How far in advance can I book any kind of shoot with you?
- My calendar is open and available for bookings generally 18 months out. You can reach out whenever you're ready to book a photoshoot within that time frame - maternity, newborn, cake smash, family, headshot, or event!
5. If I'm booking a newborn shoot, will my older children be included in our photos?
- Absolutely. All of my sessions always include all immediate family members, even pets. We'll work our way through sibling, family, parent, pet, and solo portraits of the baby. I find we're most successful when we take care of the photos that involve siblings at the beginning of the shoot.
- Extended family members, like grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, are welcome to join the shoot too for a $30/person extra fee.
6. My older children and toddler have tons of energy and it can be hard for me to get them to sit still for photos. Is it a lost cause?
- I have 10 years of experience photographing families, which means I have 10 years worth of silly games, tricks, and strategies up my sleeve to get everyone in the family happy, smiling, and engaged in photos. Make sure to schedule your shoot at a time when everyone is well napped and well fed and we should be all set for a successful shoot :).
7. What should I wear for my photoshoot?
- Once we book your shoot, I will follow up with my style guide, which includes helpful tips for how to dress for your photos. I'll share what I've learned over the years in terms of what looks best for all types of shoots, whether you're booking a newborn, family, or headshot session.
8. I see your session prices listed, but what else should I expect to pay?
- There are no surprise fees or extras with my bookings! Your session fee includes the time at the photoshoot, the editing of TONS of photos, and the rights to download your photos in high resolution.
- The only extra investment you might make is if you choose to order prints. I keep the price of my prints really affordable and comparable to most other 3rd party printing sites (a 5x7 is $3), to encourage clients to print through me for the best quality. But because you'll have the high res images downloaded on your phone or computer, you're also welcome to print anywhere you'd like!
9. I'm a bit late to the game and am booking my fall family sessions late in the season. Will I get my photos in time to order holiday cards?
- I will happily share around 10 photos with you within a few days after your session, upon request, so you have enough time to order your holiday cards. The rest of your gallery will be delivered within my standard 3-4 week turnaround.
10. I see you're based in NYC. Will you come to me for a shoot if I live outside of the city?
- Of course! Just let me know where you're looking to book the shoot and I will include my travel fees in your quote. As an example, I charge $100 for travel to Nassau County and Lower Westchester.
11. What are your current COVID policies?
- I am up to date on all my vaccines, including TDAP, the COVID vaccines/boosters, and annual flu shots. Masks are always worn for newborn sessions. I will happily wear a mask for any other indoor sessions, upon request :)
